OVERVIEW

The Australian Motor Racing Series, born in 2005 from the desire for an exciting National Series put together by competitors, for competitors with value for money as its priority, continues to gain momentum into 2007, with another outstanding list of categories, circuits and events on offer.

The AMRS will visit New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland between March and November, and will see the following action-packed categories battle it out on the circuit:

Production Touring Car Championship
Australian Sports & GT InterMarque Championship

X Challenge

The eight-round National series will visit the following circuits:

THE DIRECTORS

Rod Dale has a long association with Motor Racing in Australia. He started out driving small Fords in club events as a teenager in the 1960s, progressing onto circuit racing in the early 70s. Rod took to the circuit in his diminutive Ford Anglia, racing in his home state of New South Wales, and also venturing to Victoria. He then moved up to Group A Sports Cars, taking on dual roles - driving the 5-litre V8-powered Elfin Sports Car (pictured right) and organising the category.

After hanging up his helmet, Rod maintained his involvement with Motor Racing, as a Team Manager for various drivers and cars in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. He was involved in Andrew Miedecke's successful Formula Pacific campaign in Asia in the late-70's and early-80's.

Rod formed the Mumbo Racing team in 1998, racing in Australia and abroad. He then went on to become a co-organiser of the Touring Car Challenge in 2003, and, building on his association with Garry Willmington, formed the Australian Motor Racing Series in 2005.

Garry Willmington can be equally proud of his history in Australian Motor Racing. He has been a competitor in numerous classes since the 1970's, debuting at Amaroo Park in 1971. Garry has been a competitor in Group C, Group A, V8 Supercars and many more, he has been a class winner at Bathurst, and lists his career highlight as qualifying his XJS Jaguar 12th at Bathurst in 1986.

Garry continues to be a fierce competitor, and is now the Circuit Promoter and Manager for Wakefield Park, at Goulburn. Garry joined forces with Rod Dale to form the Touring Car Challenge in 2003, and the Australian Motor Racing Series in 2005.

Garry can regularly be seen at the front of the Touring Car Challenge pack, after muscling his EL Falcon V8 Supercar (pictured left) through the field.
